This was absolutely perfect. Heart breaking and beautiful and basically my headcanon now. Because Neal can't just walk away without regrets, without crying a few tears. Or a lot of tears. I think the line that really hit me was the realization that this hit him as hard as Kate's death and his mother's lies. So much has happened to him, but THIS tops it all. He gave it all up. He hurt his friends and family to protect them. And it was his doing.
